  1. here in arizona its sep 1st.. my daughter misses it by 4 days..

  2. in my state ( Missouri) she would have to wait another year and be the oldest in the grade and start at age 6

  3. i live in the uk and my daughter should of started late but they had spare places so she did a year and a half in nursery.in the uk they start nursery after 3.

  4. i think he can go in the regular grade

    (VA)

  5. she'll start late- i did and everyone think i was held back...but i wasnt!

  6. I'm not sure about where you live but where i live ca contra costa county she would start school on time. You only start one year late if her b-day is past dec 2 mine is dec 10 so i started late

  7. hehehe.... impossible to start late, she would naturally start when she starts.

I am not sure what it is in my state.  However in most states, you have the option.  Some states may have certain requirements such as preschool or recommendations by counselors, but late September is pretty late in the school year.

Here school starts the first week of August, so late September is already nearly 2 months into the school year.  It should not be a problem.

July tends to be the month that nobody is too sure of.  Even when presented with the option, parents never know whether to wait a year or start when they are a year younger then thier class mates.

  8. Well here in NY they have to be the right age before the year is over..  Example my son started when he was 4 yrs old and he didn't turn 5 until Dec 17Th.. in a situation like this you can choose whether you want them to start at 4 or 5. You have to call the board of education in your area and find out.

  9. In the UK she would start at the beginning of september a couple of weeks before she was 5 and be one of the oldest in her year.

  10. In my state (TX) she will have to wait a year.  My daughter was born Sept 11, and was almost 6 when she started school.  It is better when they wait!  My daughter does very well in school.  That extra years gives them more time to mature. School is so much more rigorous these days, and the extra time off is going to help her.

  11. I was the youngest kid in my class. I made the cut off by one day. I graduated in the middle of my class not because of my age but mostly because of boredom.

The same thing happened to my first born son. He was labeled as gifted but his age and size gave him a bit of a complex.

He was an excellent athlete too, but since he had to compete against kids a year or more older than him he had to fight extra hard just to be recognized.

If I had the chance to do it over again, I would hold him back and give him an advantage over the others in his class.

  12. She will start on time :)

I started school when I was 4 and Im born on October 27th

I know people who have been born in late February! and still started the same year as me!

Shes the youngest in the year Hehe

  13. she will start when it's time :D

  14. In Virginia the cutoff is September 30th. My daughter misses it by 5 days!!

  15. on time.

  16. It depends which state you in,I live in Ny,  In NY it goes to dec 1 instead of sept1, but most state goes up to sept 1.

  17. I believe it is different in each state, but here in GA its September 1st

  18. Depends on wich date she was born.

my birthday was the 26 and i didnt start late.

  19. Most school districts cut off is late December meaning they have to be 5 by December.  The only way to know is to call the school.

  20. I live in Ohio and they would have to be 5 before August 1 of that school year,

  21. Well in NC, it is now by October 16th. but they may change it to August somthing.

  22. each different from each state.  in virginia the child needs to be on or before sep.30 and in ca is before october 31st so you need to call your local school and ask they should know

  23. yep, it's different in each state.  In New Jersey the deadline is October 1, but I think for New York it's in December.  I think that most of the time it is good to send girls ahead because they mature faster than boys and I'm sure she'll be fine starting school on time.  Personally I am born in late September, and was always one of the youngest in my grade, but I didn't even notice it at all.

  24. i am also born in late september and went to school on time and am younger for my grade. In california, you have to be born by December. I was pretty advanced in Pre-School , so my parents chose for me to go ahead into Kindergarden. If you feel that your daughter is advanced academiclly and socially, you should let her be young for her grade

  25. I am in NJ and the cutoff dates for kindergarten (or preschool, for the districts that have them) eligibility are determined by each local school district.

The typical cutoff in my area of NJ is October 15, but there are some districts near here that use October 1.  My husband's school cutoff back when he started school was Dec 31 (meaning he was 4 until his birthday in mid-November the year he began school).  He was from northern NJ at the time, and I don't know if things have changed in that area.

Some parents I know have held their children out of kindergarten so that the kids are 6 (or almost 6) when they start.  Our daughter has a late August birthday and we sent her to school at the designated time because we thought she was ready. There have been times that it's apparent that she is one of the younger students in her grade, but it's overall seemed to be the right decision for her.  I guess I'll never know how the other decision would have turned out, though.

  26. She will start on time, according to the requirements in your state.

I am not even sure what the requirement is in my state, because I homeschool so I do not have to go by their policy.  I think it is in early September though.

I have a daughter born in late September also (September 26).  She is about to turn five months old.

  27. I live in Kansas and you have to be 5 by August 1st. Also in Kansas if you feel your child is ready and barely misses the cutoff you can have them tested to start early. Good luck!
