One night she heard animals fighting and ever since that she has been terrified to go in to her room. I don't know why she is so afraid of her room, and she won't tell me what she is scared of. I've tried asking her to draw what she is afraid of, but nothing ever happens. Please help me she hasn't slept for about a week. She's only in grade 1 and she needs to sleep and be healthy.

  1. Offer another place for her to sleep for a short time, like in a guest bedroom. Don't let her sleep with you as she will get attatched.

Assuming that you've told her that her room is safe, purchase a night-light or buy her a dream catcher or something enticing which will make her want to go into her room. If she can't get to sleep, read to her and allow her to drift off into a deep sleep.

If you have a teenage cousin, or someone your daughter looks up to, get her to come over to your house and make the cousin play games with your child in the bedroom. It will encourage a positive relationship with the bedroom. Make sure the cousin/role model enforces that the room is safe.

If that fails, try a reward system. Let me explain.... She gets a yummy breakfast of pancakes or something if she sleeps in her bedroom.

If it persisits, take her to a doctor and maybe you may get referred to a psycologist.

Feel free to ask for more help :-)

  2. I would put her uin her bed and read a nice story to her. I woulkd read it until she got tierd and fell asleep. If that does not work maybe put some nice calm music in there but is loud enough to drown out the animals. If nothing works talk to the owners of the animals. Maybe they could quite them down. I hope this helped.

  3. just give her a sleeping pill Half otherwise she would get sick

  4. have you tried some music on in her room, we have dogs next door barking, and i have a soothing cd i put on, it covers the noises.

  5. Don't worry, just make her go there and sleep. she will get used.

  6. I would offer to stay in the room with her until she falls asleep. Just sit next to her bed and hold her hand eventually she'll doze off. (:

  8. i haven't slept for 1 week last week, and i went to see a psychiatrist/neurologist and soon after i slept well.. you really need to let expert(doctors) do these jobs. i dont think anybody here in yahoo answers can give you an appropriate answer..

ps sleeping pills are not recommended until to the last resort because they may have side effects
