  1. Need more information such as her daytime routine...

If she takes too many naps in the daytime then it will be harder to fall asleep. 5:00 in the morning is WAAY too late for a 2 year old to be falling asleep. Some people would say that 9:30 or 10:00 is even late, but I rather my daughter fall asleep at that time because she wakes up at around 9:00 am.

She should have a set schedule when she naps, eats, everything...

  2. At age 2 a child should be sleeping 14-15 hours a day (according to my pediatrician).  You don't mention anything about daytime routines, but I would stress that routines are VERY important for children!  Every time my children are out of their routine, it leads to nightmares for me!  I would make sure that you have set hours for waking time, breakfast, naptime, etc.  My children (3 and 5 yrs) get up each morning at 6:30am (on their own, no alarms necessary once routine is established!), they eat breakfast at 7:00am, get dressed, etc.  By 10:00am, they are ready for naptime, which is about 2 hours long, then lunch.  Dinner for us is at 4:30pm.  We start our nightly routines at about 7:00pm.  They get clean up toys and such, get baths, and brush their teeth.  At 8:00pm, they each get a book read to them individually (special time with mommy) and by 8:30pm they are both calm and ready for bed.  Lights out at 8:30pm no excuses.  For a 2 yr old, I think 9:30 or 10pm is way too late.  Routine, routine, routine.  You are the boss, you set the schedule and they will follow!

I'd like to add that I work fulltime and my babysitter also follows this routine.   She knows too, that routines are important!
