My daughters been really mean to me lately..shes headed off to college soon, is it just because shes scared?

she doesnt want to go to school,

she works alld ay and then comes home and doesnt talk to me.

I don't think it would be because she is scared. Have you tried having a heart to heart with her and finding out what emotion is behind the attitude she is giving you? Because if she is still under your roof she should be showing you more respect.

Well, I'm a college freshman and I myself noticed that I was considerably meaner to my family the closer it came to the time when I was going off to college. I think that subconsciously I just didn't want my family to miss me so much. I felt sad for my family and I felt like it was logical to make things easier for them. This might be the case with your daughter but everybody's different.

Thats not being mean hon.She is tired from working all day.

She might be scared about having to be independant.

Why doesn't she want to go to school?  Did she want to go, but has since changed her mind?

If something is bothering someone, I think it's pretty normal to be quiet and withdrawn, which is what she is doing if she comes home and doesn't talk.  Try to talk to her about what it is that's going on.
