  1. There is no "normal" prescription; every person is an individual.  There are some 7 year olds with stronger prescriptions than that and so with weaker.  No one every goes blind from needing glasses.

Myopia in young people is largely due to genetics, just like big ears or a turned up nose.  There is no point to being concerned as there is nothing you can do about it.

Make sure she has regular (yearly) eye exams.

  3. No, she's just born Near sighted I guess. or was It far sighted? either one. My aunt was like that and now she can't see anything now. lol Well, she's not blind but she has a real hard time seeing.

  4. You don't need to be concerned; she just needs glasses.  She is nearsighted, meaning she has difficulty seeing clearly in the distance.  It is not bad--it's just the way her eyes are.  Nearsightedness usually progresses as one grows and stabilizes in the twenties.  Just make sure she gets yearly checkups with her eye doctor to update her prescription.  Most children are slightly farsighted, but it doesn't mean that they are "normal" and nearsighted children are "abnormal."  It just means their eyes are different sizes and shapes.  :)

  5. I wouldn't worry too much. As long as you keep up with her eye appointments she shoujld be fine. I've had glasses since 4th grade. I'm 22 now and I'm -3.75 in my right eye and -4.00 in my left. I can't really see anything without my contacts/glasses.
