  1. Yes but this would mean installing all your programmes and everything else again. If you are going to download a virus remover I'd recommend AVG rather than Norton because it is REALLY  rubbish in my opinion and alot of my friend's as well.

    Hope this helped,

    Matilda

  2. Get AVG or norton. Download the free 30 day trail or use back up if you have it on you PC.

It will be too late if the virus is in your computer's BIOS. If the processor on your laptop has Execute Disable Bit than it should be fine

  3. You might find it simplest to start by downloading a good free virus and running it. Try AVG, make sure you get the free version. I'd also try downloading and running Spybot S & D (free again).

  4. Stop being a wimp, install...

    AVG

    Spybot

    and Malwarebytes and you laughing

    Scan in safe mode

  5. You can repaired it but there is allot of work you will have to do go to reformat it then It will ask when do you want go back to factory settings.

  6. Yes you can, in fact that is what you should do (since once a computer is infected by a virus, worm, trojan or other piece of malware you can not ever be sure you've cleaned everything up).

  7. There are a couple of options but the main issue is preventing this from happening.  The problem is malicious software, the fix is a good security program.  There are free options available, one of which is AVG.  If you search AVG it will come up with a number of download options.  It takes some patience to stay with the free option, but it can be done.

Another option is to subscribe to a service such as Norton - I use them and when my computer became infected, they were able to fix it by linking with mine and I lost nothing.  If you just search - security programs - it will come up with literally millions of hits.

You can wipe the computer, but sometimes the virus will actually block a restore, in which case you need help from a pro.  Good luck with your computer issues.

  8. yes best to just wipe everything and reinstall the operating system from scratch

  9. Your daughter's laptop is full of viruses because she is using P2P software.

  10. Yes you can install everything that came with the computer from the installation CD.  After installing it is advisable to have an antivirus program.  There are free ones which you can diownload from the internet such as avgfree.

  11. Get one of these anti-virus listed below. All these anti-virus work very well, they are the leaders in the current market.

    Kaspersky anti-virus:

  12. You have the right idea for sure, use the disks that came with the laptop, boot up off them and let the system get restored, the virus will be wiped and you can start out clean again.

Get hold of an Antivirus program such as AVG (free) to try and keep it virus free in the future.

  13. So many people, when they get viruses seem to think the best option is wiping the computer and starting all over again. Yes, it probably is the better way but means you have to load everything all over again and get your programs customised just the way they were before. It's not really necessary, just make sure you get yourself a decent antivirus and antispyware program. I would suggest before you decide on doing anything so drastic go to Windows LiveOneCare and let them do a complete scan for you - it is free, will take a couple of hours if not longer, depending how much you've got on your computer, but will find all your viruses and clear them off. I would also suggest if you're happy with the result, download it and use their free trial, thereafter its only 39.99 for 3 computers for one year, absolutely worth it for peace of mind. I would also recommend downloading for free Super Antispyware. I have both these and they keep all my computers absolutely clean.

  14. Put her in the bath and wash her dress

  15. yeah save important files to a cd usb memory stick or flopy. turn off pc insert disk it came with. then follow the instructions do a full system restore. ull have to get any programs u installed on there ur selves all over again.

or u can just get a good anti virus i wood recommend avalast its free and works very very well let it scan the hard drive(s). it shood say that it needs to restart the pc to complete so do it shood take about an hour with 40gig hd.

gd luck and tell ur daughter to stay off the p**n

  16. You should reinstalll it from scratch , install anti virus.

Above all you should grant your daughter access to a NON adminitrator account. She will have to ask you each time whe wants to install something, but it will prevent this PC to be contaminated by spurious Spyware, malware, or worst. The perfect condom for PC does not exist....

  17. Yes, you can wipe it clean but downloadd a good free Anti-Virus 1st. Store it on a usb or similar. Re-install OS and install the Anti-Virus before going on-line to up-date if you can.

Plenty of good free A-V's and many trials available. Not wishing to plug but Avast is popular and totally hassle free, AVG is also good but can be more complex(confusing) to set up otherwise there are the usual crop of commercial versions.

It's good policy to set-up a user account so 'surfing' etc is not done as Admin even as a sole user. Good-Luck.
