I have a 7 year old daughter who has only lost two of her baby teeth this year while at my parents my younge brother was asked by her to remove her top front tooth because to her it was wiggly he went to remove it using blunt force i guess and her whole gum is split up to top and the tooth is still in there but she showed me that the gum is moving front to back like a tooth should ...will it heal it self or will she need constructive surgery on her palate please help does the gum grow back together? should we try to remove the tooth totally?she keeps playing with it and the gum is moving ... every time she does it i gasp please help! thank you a very concerned mother.

  1. Depending on what direction the injury occurred,   it may be best to splint the tooth (keep it in place by bonding it to it's neighbor)  or remove the tooth.   Only a dentist will know what is best by looking at it,  and by viewing an x-ray to see what's happening inside.    The baby teeth are not so much a concern as making sure none of the permanent teeth are in danger.    Whichever way they decide to go,  she will be in a lot less pain than leaving it that way.

  2. So he split her gum and the tooth is still there? Except for being split in two is all the gum still there? If that is the case try and get her to swish with salt water. My son put his lower teeth into his lower lip. He was bleeding profusely and we took him to the ER. They told us that since the teeth didn't come through the skin on his face that they could do nothing with it.

Still maybe you need to take her to the dentist to be sure.

  3. Take her to a dentist. It could become infected, and be a much worse problem.
