she got caught texting the answers to her friend in the bathroom down the hall. We had workd very hard to get het to this point-this is a good school with low student/teacher ratio and low incidents of drug use. The school now doesnt want anything to do w.her-can I sue them for discrimination because other kids were cheating and didnt get caught or is this lame?

  1. Your lucky that she wasnt actually at the school and was written up because it would significantly reduce her chances of even getting into a decent university

Overall, why sue? It was her fault, she knew what she was doing was wrong on many levels but many kids make mistakes.

If you can arrange with the school and plead for a second chance because adolescents tend to make overlook the consequences for the even more menial crimes.

Dont sue them, its completely absurd. If they didn't catch them , then they got off free and let their friend go down.

Sorry for your situation it stinks.

On the public school part, its not bad at all. Look for a magnet school if public school is not up to your so called "standards"

  2. before you sue you should talk to the dean then talk to the school bored and ask them for a nother chance for your daughter on the test hop i helped

  3. i think u should ground her from using her cellphone and wen the next test comes up take it away for that day

    TALUMBUZ

  4. I'm a mom too.  and I know you want to stick up for your kid.  What she did was wrong.  it shouldn't matter to you what other kids were doing.  You're not raising other kids, your raising your kid...so when she's wrong - you need to be the one to tell her she's wrong.

  5. Dear Parent:  Put yourself in the admissions director's shoes.  Would *you* want to admit your daughter?  She's already cheating and she isn't even in the school yet.   There's obviously an egregious moral disregard here, and I don't even have to tell you that.

What would suing the school get you?  It won't get your daughter accepted.  It would most likely ensure that your daughter not be accepted to *any* private school.  The cost would outweigh any satisfaction you would derive.  In addition, it wouldn't hold up in a court of law.  It's like saying, there were five people speeding and the cop pulled me over for the ticket.  It doesn't matter, you were still breaking the law.

I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this.  As a parent, I understand all the sacrifices to give your child the best opportunities possible.  But it would be misplaced to focus your anger and blame on the school.  They haven't done anything wrong.  Sure, there were other kids cheating and yes it's terrible.  But if their identities can't be concretely confirmed, there is nothing that can be done.  The best thing you can do now is focus on your daughter and understand why she would do something so damaging and so implicitly wrong.  Good luck in steering her in the right direction.

  6. Ok so students got caught cheating on a test. Yeah it sort of a big deal but at the same time its been being done for years and years. It depends on the schools pollicies and stuff. But have you thought about your daughters feelings? I mean not to sound rude but you have worked hard to get her into that school and stuff yes but does she really want to go there? I mean if she trully wanted to be in this school then she wouldnt have risked chancing getting caught to begin with. Im just saying that to me it could be she just wants to go to a regular school? Maybe you could talk to the principal and see if she can maybe sign a waver or something to guarantee that if she sheated or had any trouble then she would be thrown out automatically. Maybe that will help. But sit down and ask her what she really wants to do? You know kids now days if they dont want to do something they will find every way around it trying to get out of it. :) Good luck and hope all works out for the best.

  7. if your daughter was caught cheating then she should not go to the school.you cant sue them for discrimination because if they didnt catch the other kids then they dont know that they were cheating.plain and simple....

  8. public school isn't bad, i wouldn't even worry about it. public school can be very good, and drugs, crime, violence, s*x, and all that stuff just introduces students to reality. private schools can shelter children and make them unprepared for the real world. it also depends where you live, is it suburban, rural, or inner-city?
