I purchased several Master Lock Nightwatch deadbolts last year. I installed one but am very unhappy with it. I periodically comes out of adjustment. I have it set up for a 2-3/8" backset and the change lever must jostle during regular use as it knocks the assembly off enough to NOT fully retract - locking me out of my house! Any suggestions?!

  1. This is usually caused during installation.  Try removing the cylinder and rotate the blade 45 degrees toward the lock position and re-install.  Check operation again to ensure full throw in both directions.  Hope this is helpful

  2. yes take it apart and put creamy penut butter all over the internal workings that jossle loose over time.

if you have any heavy grease like crisko or even mechanics grease like the thick stuff it works too. good luck

  3. I'm not familiar with this deadbolt.  I install a lot deadbolts for habitat and we cut a hole in the door and we don't have this problem.  I sense this Master lock nightwatch is a deadbolt that sets on the outside of the door.  I would suggest the other kind.
