  1. Dispute the transaction once it clears. If the bank want to keep your business, they should help you out. If they don't close out your accounts and move or get something to protect your Identity. Here is a friends web site for a Identity Theft Shield www.whatsyourwhy.net  Good luck

  2. Close the account immediately and send replacement checks out to the cos. you just sent your bills to. Call them and inform them what is going on. You can also put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus and must be renewed every 90 days.

  3. Ask them to freeze your bank card, not your account, and to request id for anyone going into the bank claiming to be you or wanting to use you card.  They should do that already, but some banks don't.

If possible, see if they'll only allow the checks that you've already written (you can tell them to whom, and for how much) to go through.

    Definitely go to the bank.

When I was a victim of phishing, they disabled my card, but not my account, or my husbands card, we have a joint account.  It was only my card number and pin number that was stolen (along with $1000) so there was no need to disable the rest.  They just gave me a new card number and had me change the pin.  I did eventually get the money back too.

  4. 2 days, wow. I would call the company to see if checks were cashed. Splain to them your situation. Promise a new payment date. Your bank is full of cra'. Cause they can stop payment of those checks. Even if it is a pending transaction. It cost a fee to stop payment on checks. Careful some banks charge 20-25 dollars to stop a single check. See if the bank would block your account for investigation. Good-luck!
