  1. Ok! I too hate math when I don't understand it... and I love it when I do understand it. Times tables are pretty simple and I know you're going to laugh at this but this is how I did it!

Place a multiplications chart on the back of the toilet/ bathroom door or on your locker door so when you open it you can read it. They take time and practice so don't give up! You will get there soon!

  2. I think you own fear to forget the times tables is inhibiting your ability to memorize the tables.  ie. if you convince your self you are going to forget something, you will.

First of all, convince yourself that you can do it.  Then realize how easy they are.  Look at the tables and notice the pattern.  Soon you'll realize that  you only need to be able to recall half of it.  example: 3X9 = 9X3

also remember that multiplication is the same as repetitive addition.  ex. if you forget what 6x7 is buy you remember that 6X6=36 then just add 6, 36+6=42.  You can also subtract: 6X5=?  think 6X6= 36 - 6 = 30

Also realized that you really don't need to remember the time table for 2.  all you have to do is double what ever number.  ex: 2X6 = 6+6

The times table for 5 is also easy to remember, just count in multiples of five.  Use your fingers if you have trouble.  you know 5 10 15 20... numbers always end in 0 or 5.

The table for 3 is not too bad either just count in 3, or add the number 3 times.  ex: 3X4= 4+4+4

Eventually you'll start remembering the tables with constant practice!  I emphasize practice because that is the only way you can hope to learn multiplication.

Here are other tips that you might want to try:

Make the times tables into a song.

    Use flash cards

write the table repetitively.  It helps if you derive the tables instead of copying from a book.

Use a computer program design to learn them.

Make a game out of it.

    Practice problems

    quiz your self

  3. the funny part is that u don't even need to know the multiplication tables!! i never memorized them and still got good grades. as a matter of fact memorizing them won't even help u. i would use a calculator.

  4. I hate math as well, to be honest I am a junior in high school and I still do not remember my multiplication tables. And I am doing pretty darn good for myself. As time roles on, you only need to remember what is neccessary. In Geometry and Algebra 2 you don't really use multiplication as much as you would in the past- you use subsitution and basic math more.

  5. if u are so desperate to learn them just pick up a third grader's math book and do 4-5 exercises of long multiplication. would suck at first but u will get a hang of it. Jessica is even correct, in higher grades u don't really need to know your tables but if u do, u can finish your work quickly.

dont be embarrassed i mean seriously i have been bad at stuff too, for eg, didnt know the correct spelling of special until 8th grade. so have fun, someday you will laugh at it.

  6. ew math, i heard that u can remember things by puting them under your pillow before u go asleep

  7. I have an idea...

why don't you look at your hands..

    the pinky finger represents 6

    ring finger represents 7

    middle finger represents 8

    pointing finger represents 9 and

    thumb represents 10

    example solve 9x7=?

on the left hand point your pointing finger to the ring finger on the right then count them by ten... then the fingers that are outside, you will multiply them. after multiplying, add the fingers that you counted by ten and the fingers that you multiply in the outside.... that's only for 6-10....... good luck
