Question:

My dental insurance won't pay?

Hello, I got braces on March 4th and on April 28th I quit the job I was working for and got hired somewhere else. My previous insurance isn't paying the $1,500 it was supposed to now, because my policy is cancelled. But I had the insurance plan for about 2 months after I got my braces put on. It just doesn't seem fair to me. Is this legal?

  1. Yes.  Braces get paid for, over a two year period.  You can't START the braces, quit the coverage, and expect them to keep paying over the next two years.

  2. yes

  3. What you should do (if this situation ever arises again) is apply for your insurance company's COBRA program. It allows you to continue your insurance while you're transitioning to another job. It's horribly expensive ($600/month) but can save you some hassle.

Sorry about your braces. Good luck!
