Question:

My desk drawer is jammed- help!?

So my desk has 4 drawers- 3 big ones on the side, and the one where you sit, the thin long one. There's a binder or something in there, and I've tried pushing it down, but it's too hard to push it down because I guess it's too far back. I hadn't opened that drawer in quite a while (until yesterday, probably 2 or 3 years) and I couldn't get it open. It only opens about 1-2 inches out.

The back is sealed so I can't get to it from there.

What do I do to get it unjamed?

Thanks!

  1. Find a long sturdy piece of metal, as flat as possible.  You could also try a wooden paint stir stick or something like that.  Slide it into the opening that you are able to manage and then move it back and forth, hopefully pushing down or moving around the object that is obstructing your being able to open the drawer.

  2. Sounds tough.. I would say try to shimmy a long knife..well, maybe not a knife but a long spatula type of utensil in there and try to move the binder while pulling... Hope this works!

  3. Something long and flat........like a piece of old formica or body sheet metal alone the top and release it........good luck...that is fun...................the local cabinet shop phone no. is 123456......lol

  4. You could try turning the whole desk upside down to see if that moves the contents around.
