  1. get a wireless router and connet your modem from orange to the wireless router. if you laptop has a wirreless it will pickup else get a card or usb wireless for your laptop.

  2. Yeah; you can use your mains as a network.  Go to maplins and ask - there're a few options.  And it's relatively easy to set up.

Also; the whole Wireless and Medical equipment thing is a lot of hype.  Basically as evidenced by the lack of any documented incident where a mobile, wifi etc. has done any damage.

  3. Does your modem router have another ethernet socket like the one that you have plugged into with your main computer?

If so then just plug in another cable to link your laptop to the router. You can have one up to about 100M long if you wish! Get a local Computer Shop to make one up for you.
