My desktop is all messed up since I installed Apple updates! All messed up help!?

Question

My start menu is now vertical on the right side of my screen. Since I installed Apple Updates all my recycle bin, internet explorer, my documents icons are all along that right vertical menu. It is really annoying and gets in the way when I am taking notes in class. Also computer is being really slow how do I make it faster? Delete documents or programs? Thank you so much whoever has advice! I am not that savy with computers. P.S. I am operating on a Dell Inspiron E1505 on Windows XP. Thank you!

1st thing try to uninstall the software if it stayed the same ,

point the mouse on the taskbar then click on it and keep holding till you move it down if the icons are still the same and so the taskbar try to go to help and support on the start menu then click system restore and restore your system to the date befor you installed the software ,I hope these step give you the help you need

maybe you got a virus because i dont trust apple i say get defender pro that is a type of virus protection its cheap too!!!!
