  1. What are you eating?  Are you taking a supplement?  Even omnis should take a supplement to be on the safe side.  There are tons of vegetarian multivitamins out there.  Go ahead and get one with iron, especially if you're a woman.

I'm vegan, and my hair grows like weeds (as it did before I went veg), and my nails grow just fine (but then I do type for a living, and that's said to help).  Any health problems I may have, I had before I went veg, so it isn't the diet.

Go to www.vrg.org to find vegetarian foods rich in iron--greens, beans, and blackstrap molasses are among the iron-rich foods.  Make sure you eat foods rich in vitamin C to help increase iron absorption.

And are you eating enough?  If you don't eat enough calories, that will slow down your metabolism.

  2. The vegetarian diet is your problem.

The problem with vegetarian diets are that they are often unhealthy and unnatural. You need to eat animal based foods. If you refuse to eat meat, then you need to eat eggs and dairy. Humans adapted a meat based diet 2.5 million years ago. Humans needed meat back then, humans need it now. If you can, eat fish: especially fatty fish like tuna and salmon.

As far as anemia goes, look into a genetic disorder called hemochromatosis. It mainly affects people of Northern European descent - especially from the British isles. People with the condition absorb too much iron and stor it in the internal organs. Ironically, anemia is a possible symptom or iron overload.

  3. seems that you don't have enough vitamins

  4. you have to take a lot of daily vitamins if youre a vegetarion because by not eating meats youre depriving your body of the things it needs to function. so you have to get the them somewhere or else you will continue to be pale and your hair will keep thinning

  5. alot of that is BEACUSE you are a vegetarian. you need to get iron in your system, as well as calcium... and potentially go see a doctor. If you are not looking at the higher iron veggies, you need to. Also, if you are going the vegan route, you need to find things with calcium in it... or start drinking more soy milk.  Make sure you take multivitamins with iron and calcium.

  6. you should look into making green juice. just search the web for green juices or green smoothies, of course it consist of green veggies and some fruits of your choice. you said you are a vegetarian not a vegan or a raw vegan so you might want to look up more info on eliminating animals and processed food. my hair and nails grow wonderfully, i have more energy and my skin glows and i am a raw vegan. my favorite website is www.thegardendiet.com
