My digi cameras flash is messed up?

I have an Olympus FE-170 6 mp digital cameraaa. Like a couple months ago the flash started screwwing up. Like sometimes it flashes THEN takes a picture, so the picture comes out all dark, and sometimes it just flashes all freaking bright and takes a picture making it all white so you can't see anything. :/

Then of course it takes regular pictures once in a blue moon.

Anyone know whats wrong?

If your flash has different modes, it might be set for one of them you're not trying to use.  Look in your camera's manual for how to set the flash mode, or how to reset your camera back to it's original settings.  Then see if it works okay.  If not, then there's probably a malfunction.
