I was changing the batteries and you know the switch for battery terminal? Well, it popped open. NOW

My camera turns on, and turns right back off. and It almost looked like a second it burned the image of the screen on my LCD, then it fades away.

HELP plz?? I need this camera very badly. I list stuff on ebay with it!!!!! ahhh..

  1. The camera still might have been partially on, so when you were changing the batteries, an energy transfer was still in progress. It could have caused a processer to fry putting other actions that the camera is trying to do in jeopardy, much like a train reaction. It could have damaged the memory card if a memory card was installed. The best thing is to buy a new camera along with a mamory card. A CoolPix is not worthy of repairs, so it would just be easier to buy a new one. I suggest a Kodak or a Canon, they are easy to use and have the best quality, plus you can change the quality in most of these cameras wich is very usefull as a multifunction camera, small photos for ebay, large photos for events, etc..Good luck with your future camera.

  2. buy a new one

  3. It might be the type of batteries you are using. I know some cameras that use the AA's can't take lithium AA's. Just try using regular alkaline. If THAT doesn't work, you might have a bigger problem, their could be dust inside the camera or sand or something. It's hard to tell with out getting it professionally looked at (like a real camera shop, not a big chain) You might think about calling Nikon and asking them for advice. Chances are that they have heard of this problem before.
