My dining room has a chair rail. Is it ok to paint the top and bottom the same color & leave the rail white?

After doing a lot of research on painting a room with a chair rail, everyone mostly uses 2 colors. A light color paint on top and a dark on the bottom or vice versa. Has anyone painted a room using the same color on the top and the bottom - leaving the rail white?

Sure, there is no right and wrong when it comes to decorating/design. If you think the room looks good that way then of course its ok.

I just recently painted my kitchen and dining room all one color above and below the chair rail (which is cream).  It looks great.
