i had been out of town for a few days and when i got back it wont work. i immediatly changed the batteries but the remote is still unresponsive. nothing lights up, so i cant even try to reprogram it. i really have no idea what to try next. oh yeah, we had a spare remote to, its identical to the other, and that one is behaving the same exact way. as in doing absolutly nothing.

  1. There are 10 different channels the remotes use and the box and the remote have to be set the same.

If you ran out of power - chances are the remote reset to channel 1 but the receiver was set to some other number. You have to re-sync it.

Call Dish tech support and they will talk you through the steps or read your manual.   Something like hold down the SAT button for 5 seconds, hit "1" on the keypad and then # or something like that to reset things.

  2. Contact Dish Network and they will replace the remote at no charge to you.  It sounds like your remote has gone bad.  Make sure your satellite receiver is in good working order.  You should be able to turn it on and off and change channels manually.

  3. First, try inserting only the best name batteries, like Duracell,

or Energizer, because a friend of mine tried putting in brand

new low name brand batteries, and nothing happened. Then

he tried the Energizer ones I brought to him, and they worked!

Don't know why, but did.(both kinds were never opened packs)

Then, if that does not work, try calling DISH directly and ask 4

tech dept. and see what they say. You might have to get a new

remote as I once did, and you can, from them too. good luck!
