My doctor gives me a needle in the finger,i hate being able to see it go in,is there another part to put it?

  1. it depends on what the injection is for, some injections have to go in specific parts of the body.

    try looking away and taking in a deep breath, and exhaling when he inserts the needle, thats what i do.

    or try biting down on something.


  2. Im not sure why the doctor would need to put a needle in your finger except for two reasons.

    a) if they are having to anesitise the area to make it numb so that they can put stitches in or something similar or

    b) Drawing blood from the finger for a blood glucose reading, as in for when someone has diabetes and must check this.

    The problem is that the needle is going to feel very similar where ever you put it. Try taking a deep breath when the doctor is about to put the needle in and slowly inhale as he/she does so. Some people find that the pain is less when they dont look at the needle going in and some find that the pain is less if they do. I am the latter for example.

    Hopefully you dont have to get needles very often, but just try and remember that the doctor is doing this for a good reason.

    Perhaps you can talk to your doctor and see if there are any alternative options
