  1. Your doctor is trained to know what medicines are good for you in pregnancy and is not going to prescribe something that would be harmful. Take them and do not worry.

  2. I won't worry about taking them. I had to take some for a uti at 12 weeks and nothing happened. Good Luck!

  3. Presumably the doctor knows that you are pregnant?

While people tend to get this idea that 'only tylenol is safe' ... the fact is that most meds are safe to use during pregnancy -- if you need to take them.  The risk to baby from a safe antibiotic (and the doctor will have prescribed a safe one) is negligible. The risk of leaving an infection untreated, and having it progress to a kidney infection, or sepsis, or something similar is far higher.

Take the meds you need and feel better. That is the best thing you can do for your baby, and for you.

  4. Take them!  You risk a kidney infection if untreated.  Plus, I've had uti's off and on for about 7 weeks now and it's miserable.  I told my doctor too late and now I pretty much have to deal with it.  Do what you can to fix it.

  5. Oh don't worry you'll be fine...

it wont harm the baby at all...remember your baby is in his sac so, he's very protective in there..

  6. you should take them if the doc gave them to you because a UTI can turn into a kidney infection and that will cause you to be put in the hospital. i am actually taking some meds for the same thing right now. i just wanted to let  you know its ok

  7. I took antibiotics for uti about a month ago nothing bad happen. I'm 29 weeks and being taking antibiotics again for yeast infection. Today I finish the last pill of the antibiotic. I still feel my little one moving so I'm not worrying about it. The doctors are just trying to get rid of any infection before the little one comes. Uti are very common during pregnancy.

  8. I have had 4 UTI's a kidney stone and a ruptured cyst all during this pregnancy (28 weeks) I had to take antibiotics each time. Some are safe and some are not. If the doctor prescribing knows that you are pregnant, they sould be fine. Better to take them than risk a worse infection.

  9. I took antibiotics for a UTI during my last pregnancy with no adverse affects.

One thing you can do is talk with the pharmacist to make sure it is safe to take during pregnancy.  You can also look the drug up online.

  10. I had one as well. Its a lot more dangerous to have an infection than take the antibiotics. The doc knows which ones are safe.

  11. I totally understand. I have to take them twice once when I was like 9 weeks and gain when I was like 16 weeks. I was soooo scared, but again the Dr. is not going to prescribe a pregnant woman anything harmful. Now if you don't take them you can risk causing more severe bacteria spread, and I know you don't want to harm the baby. Take your medicine. You'll be fine.

  12. The Dr can prescribe you with mild antibiotics while you're pregnant. They shouldn't cause you any harm, but if you don't feel comfortable with taking them there is an alternative.

I suffer from uti's during pregnancy (I'm 30wks preg with my 3rd) and am allergic to penicillin which is in most antibiotics. I take-

    CITRAVESCENT

it contains: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, tartic acid (all found in several food items)

How to take- they're little sachets you mix with water (1-2/glass. no more than 4 sachets a day)

How to buy- chemist (no prescription required)

Your Dr and/or pharmacist can give you more product info.

  13. Congrats, White, on the cub!

I am sure your cub will be just fine.

No worries for you there. Your Doctor just prescribed you antibiotic that he and any other maternity doctor would prescribe . it should just be a low grade antibiotic. Low dose.
