they used to only be in my hands but now I am getting them in my arms and legs ( I had an EEG and MRI, and he didn't think it was too much to be concerned about). Has anyone else ever been given this drug to calm tremors?

  1. Topamax is a "throw it at the wall and see if it sticks" sort of drug. Docs use it for migraine heads, all sorts of seizures, and some even pair it now with sudafed for weight loss. (It causes a decrease in appetite with some people who take it).

Have you been through inderal, tegretol, and mysoline for your tremors? These are the first three that jump to mind.  As far as I know, there is no very effective (let alone universal) medication for essential tremors.

I'm sorry I don't have better news for you. Your best shot is a neurology consult, if you haven't already had one.

    I wish you the best.

  2. Topamax has been prescribed before for an essential tremor.  If you don't think it's working, ask for propranolol or xanax.
