  1. So you're feeling probably really tired and rundown?  Sore throat maybe with swelling in your neck lymph nodes?

According to this test, you're anemic, your RBC, crit and hemoglobin are all low, now which type of anemia I'll need more info.

Now the monocytes are really high which is suggestive of mononucleosis (aka mono).

But what's weird is that there is also an anemia on top of it which isn't associated with mono, which is probably why doctor was bit puzzled.

A few things come to mind, screwed up CBC test, redo and get a few other specific screens for mono causing viruses.

Second, you have both, iron deficient anemias in females aren't unusual especially if you have high blood loss during menstruation and you just happen to come down with mono as well.

Regardless, most test need to be run to figure out whats going on.  Hope you feel better.

  2. your leukocytes and eurythrocytes are very normal.  HCT is too. Better to have a high monocyte count bc your muscles need alot of oxygen.

  3. You are anemic- your Hemoglobin and Hematocrit are low.  Your MCV is the best indicator of what kind of anemia you have.  You do have high monocytes, but that has nothing to do with mononucleosis.  Mono is associated with a high levels of reactive lymphocytes so the above poster is wrong with that information he gave you.

    "MONOCYTES and MONOCYTE COUNT

These cells are helpful in fighting severe infections and are considered the bodies second line of defense against infection and are the largest cells in the blood stream. Elevated levels are seen in tissue breakdown or chronic infections, carcinomas, leukemia (monocytic) or lymphomas." http://www.stillsdisease.org/lab_tests/c...
