  1. I'm in the same situation as you, but my doctor didn't say that it could happen any day now. I don't know when it's going to happen, but I hope that it will not cause big problems. I don't want it to be during school and I'm scared that it will bleed through my pants.

  2. no one can say exactly when a girl will get her first menstrual period, but usually girls will get it some time during puberty.

Some girls start puberty at age 9 or 10 where others may start as late as age 15 or 16. Each girl goes at her own pace. So don't think that it's a bad thing or that something is wrong if your friends start puberty a little earlier/later than you.

At the beginning of puberty, you'll notice that your b*****s are developing and you're starting to grow a little hair under your arms. Hair also will grow on your genitals (pubic hair). In some girls, the time from the beginning of puberty to getting the first menstrual period may take only 6 months, where as for other girls, it may take longer and can take up to 3 years.  Another sign is vaginal discharge fluid (sort of like mucus) that a girl might see or feel on her underwear. This discharge usually begins about 6 months to a year before a girl gets her first period.

Every girl is different, and there is a wide range of normal development during puberty.

All I can say is that you should be patient, it will happen when your body is ready.

    Good luck :)

  3. No dont worry its normal and it doesnt smell (unless you go to the toilet) and as long as you change your pad like once to twice a day depending on how your body works, and if you get any pains its perfectly normal just take a tablet or something and the best way, tell your mum about it-as it is normal plus your mum has been on her period before dont be shy or worried just act normal otherwise people will be able to tell your on. Good luck. x

  4. You won't smell, your blood may smell a little, but you're the only one who can smell it.  You may think others can, but don't worry- they can't!!  You need to tell your mom.  I think you should tell her what your doctor told you, so she is prepared as much as you are.  It's not fair to not tell her.  And then once you get your period, make sure you tell her.  Or, if you really can't tell your mom, make sure you tell a trusted adult, like an adult or grandmother who can help in the same way your mother would be able to.

Don't be scared, it's not that bad.  It doesn't hurt or anything, just know what pads you need and everything.  And be prepared for either a light period, or a heavy one.

Just please tell someone who can help you and who you can trust, although your mom is the best bet, and she knows you better.

Good luck, and here's an early congratulations to womanhood for when you do get your period!  :)

  5. First of all, it's totally normal to be nervous about starting your period.

And it's okay to tell your mom when you do. I was really nervous about telling my mom, but it was fine. It's easier to just tell her than try to hide it. She's a woman and she'll understand :)

Keep a spare pad in your backpack, locker, etc so you're prepared for when you do start.

Change your pad every 3-4 hours and shower daily and you won't need to worry too much about smell. Just take care of yourself and keep clean with soap and water.

  6. There's nothing to worry about! It's okay. I was scared when I first got it, as well. And it won't smell, unless you don't take a shower. Which is like disgusting :| So if you're worried about the smell just take a shower in the morning and night. I suggest you use pads for now. If you want to try tampons, go for it. But it might be a little uncomfortable at first. The signs before your period should be feeling a bit bloated, getting moody, and your b*****s being more sensitive than usual

    congrats, your becoming a woman ! :D

  7. if you really don't want to tell your mom, then you need to be prepared ahead of time.  go to a store and just buy some pads so you will be ready for when you get it.  it really isn't that bad telling your mom though...all you have to say is "mom, i think i started my period."  what's the worst thing that can happen?  it's not like you did something bad...

also, i really don't think you will smell.  have you ever walked passed someone and thought "wow she smells.  she must be on her period!"  well maybe you have, but i never have, so if you've never noticed anyone else not smelling good on their period then the chances of you not smelling good are pretty small.  hope that helps!!

  8. relax dont be scared it happens to everyone.  take some pads to school with you and wear a panty liner untill you get it.  you will have to tell your mom, don't be embarrased and you will not smell

  9. if your doctor told you that you are goin to get your period any day then where ever you go make sure u carry a pad or a tampon with u (in a purse/bag) don't be afraid. and it won't smell as long as you change your pad/tampon every 4-6 hours ! and your mom should totally understand ! i dont tell my mom when i get my period ! i say it is my body and she doesn't need to kno ! so don't be worried !

  10. Start carrying a purse (if you don't already) and keep a couple of pads in it. That way, you're always ready. You should definitely talk to your mom about it. After all, she went through the same thing! I know it's scary, but don't sweat it, your first period isn't really all that bad.

  11. Don't be scared besides if it had been my mom she would ask me like everyday your mom knows what its like shes been through it. the two of you don't have to make it a big deal just a casual brief convo. if you leave the house keep pads with you because you never know when it could happen. you shouldn't smell because most pads are scented so that it doesn't if you feel like it smells spray some perfume on your pants or some fabreeze or something

  12. Don't be scared! Just think-pretty much EVERY girl has a period. It's not just you. Your mom will be great through all of it too...she can buy you all of the supplies so you won't be embarrased buying pads and tampons. I know it is embarrassing to tell her but it is very much worth it. If you think about it, she will have to know eventually..so just tell her the day it starts and you won't have to worry about hiding it. Lastly, no..it won't smell. No one else will notice you are having it! At first, you might feel that everyone can see your pad, but the truth is-they can't. That feeling will completely go away after awhile and you won't even think about it. Go to beinggirl.com too. It is a great website fo teenage girls just getting their period. GOOD LUCK!

  13. Don't worry, I had mine at 11, and it's super normal. Oh, don't hide it from your mom, she'll find out, so better talk to her right away, she can help you, trust me ; )
