Please anyone who knows a lot about dogs can help. I moved from Florida to Texas this summer and am suffering from allergies myself but noticed in the past few weeks that my dog's eyes are runny and he seems to sneeze or hack now and then. I started crating him about a few weeks ago while I am at work, so not sure if it is allergies or a cold. Will take him to the vet but just wanted some ideas as to what I can do for him now. Thank you!

  1. Take him to the vet for an antihistamine shot for allergies.  My toy poodle has allergies too. The shots helped a tad, but now my vet has recommended Benadry children's dose -the one in plastic vials -cherry flavor- twice a day for 2 weeks.  I'll see if it works.

  2. It could be anything.  One of my girls was like that.  She had runny nose and sneezes a bunch.  It took the 3rd vet for us to find out that she had an upper respiritory infection.  She's been on anti-biotics and she's fine now.

  3. it might be the climate he might be relay hot and that's what might be causing it.

  4. Well, a runny nose and runny eyes are usually from allergies and/or colds, but coughing and hacking can be anything from canine influenza to a respiratory infection, to heartworm.
