Question:

My dog's leg problems?

A friend has given me their dog and I've had her for about a month now. I've noticed a slight limp when she walks though. She runs perfectly fine, but whenever she's tired she tends to limp. It's her left hind leg and since it can't support weight, she lifts it a lot. She doesn't seem to be in any pain and she's only a year old. I've been to a veterinary clinic and the doctor said something about a joint being congested and getting enlarged, causing the leg to rotate slightly? The doctor also said she should get a x-ray for more detail and that medication may not be enough, so she may have surgery. Anyways, they recommended a specialist clinic, but they haven't contacted me back yet. Please help! I want to know what may be wrong with my dog and how I can make it easier?

  1. Large framed dog? Breed?

Dogs of large frame can get hip disorder, older dogs just start to break down if they haven't been cared for properly. I would make the call 1st am or be there when the doors open and see whats up.

Just don't go over exerting her in case the hip bone is slipping out of the socket cause the dog is growing to fast  at 1 yr  old.  That is generally for large dog brreds.

X-rays are need, do that First then. Then go from there .

We all on this site could use some info like on size and breed..and coat condition cause that can tell us alot about the food she has been given.

Have you heasrd Corn in dog food is BAD..REAL BAD. Try Canidea or Nutro, Nutro Ultra, d**k Van Patten dry dog, no corn.

    I wish you luck but
