He was killed yesterday. When my boyfriend picked him up from the road there wasn't any wounds on him. Today I noticed that his stomach was yellowish and I think it was swollen. I think someone killed him.

  1. take him to the vet for an autopsy

  2. Why do you still have a dead dog lying around and how did you get his stomach out?

  3. that sounds really terrible, im sorry. lynne is right though, get a necropsy, its the only way you'll know for sure.

  4. I think it's probably bruising on the skin. You could bury him now you know.

  5. No, unless you have his carcass in refrigeration, you are seeing typical decomposition.  I suggest you either have the dog necropsied, cremated, or buried pretty soon.  It won't be getting any more pleasant to view or smell with time.  Yellow skin tones can be associated with jaundice in life, and are usually the result of liver failure.  Unless he was yellow before he died, I'd not think he was poisoned.

  6. All animals swell after they have been dead for a few hours. It is probably the same for the discoloration as well. He probably had a lot of internal injuries.

Why was your dog running loose?

  7. The only way you can know for sure is to have your vet do a necropsy (autopsy) on your dog.
