  1. No, but I've heard of dogs having it.  I saw a gordon setter on "It's Me or the Dog" that was obsessed with light and reflections.  In that case it was sort of an attention seeking thing, and if they would clap or make some other loud noise and then walk out of the room he would stop doing it and follow.

  2. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder no and I hope I never do.

  3. I assume you are you talking about OCD, the bone disease-not Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?  It IS considered hereditary (though unscrupulous breeders often tell their clients that it is not), but environmental factors play a role, too.  If you purchased from a breeder, contact them right away to let them know about it...an ethical breeder will not want to repeat a breeding like that.  Young dogs often "grow out" of it.  What treatment did your vet recommend?  You should see results with rest and Rimadyl within a couple of months.  If there is no improvement by 2-3 months, talk to your vet about surgery.  I recently read an article discussing OCD and diet.  Be sure your dog is eating the VERY best food...nothing from the grocery store or Wal-Mart.  Get a super premium food (like Innova, Wellness, Prairie, Solid Gold, Merrick, Canidae, etc) and supplement with Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM while giving your dog rest (NO work, NO unnecessary exercise...consider it bedrest).
