If I feed my dog canned food and dry food mixed up together, he throws up and gets diarrhea. All my friend's cats and dogs do this, too when they get fed canned food and dry food mixed up together. Do your cats and dogs do this?

  1. I have 4 dogs, 2 puppies, and 2 cats that all get their canned and dry food mixed together and none of them have this problem.  It may be the type of food you are feeding or you are feeding them too much or they are eating it too fast.  If yo only do one feeding a day try dividing it into 2 feedings instead.

  2. Don't feed him any store-bought dog food.  It contains many additives and will harm his health in the long run.  Here is a recipe I use for my dog and he is healthy and happy!

    Medium bag of brown rice

    Pack of gizzards and hearts

    Container of liver

    Pack of tripe

    Small bag of carrots

Cook the rice.  Boil the rest of the ingredients.  Mix everything together in a blender or mash up with your hands.  Divide the food into zip-lock bags, let cool, store in the freezer and defrost at feeding time.

Make sure he has clean, fresh water throughout the day and good luck!

  3. i never give my pets dry and canned food mixed, but i don't see why it would make them sick, it could be that he's allergic to one or more of the ingredients in the food so try giving him another brand :)

  4. No it does not happen to me, If it continues that way, then stopping should be the best.

  5. No, my pets don't do that. And I work at a vet's office that we mix the food too and they don't get sick either. The only reasons that could happen is if A- you are giving them too much wet food, which causes diarrhea and vomiting. B- If the brand is no good ie cheap and poorly made, or the animals may have an allergy.C- The may eat to quickly causing vomiting and then diarrhea later on due to too much wet food. Also, if they are young animals their digestive track may not be ready to handle it. Try changing food brands. Try feeding it to them only every couple of days. And remember that they don't need wet food, so if all of those changes don't help, just don't feed it to them.
