  1. I have no idea if what is in gum can harm his system.

My dog once ate a half of a hard cover book and he seemed to be fine.  An d another time he ate a small wooden brightly colored toy and it came out still brightly colored and undamaged a day or two later.

Perhaps it would be wise to call a vet.

  2. He'll be just fine.  Be glad he didn't get it all over his coat or the rugs or the furniture.

  3. Get him to the vet or at least call them. A whole pack of gum might block his intestines and cause constipation. Make sure you put your gum away where he can't get it.

  4. Call the vet now because it has things in it that could be lethal to dogs and the wrappers cant be good for him either.

  5. Call your vet immediately. Do it now!! It may be okay, but they will tell you either way.

  6. if it has Xylitol, get to your vet now - it's lethal to dogs.

  7. Wrappers and all? Call the vet. He will need an x-ray to make sure it isn't lodged in his digestive tract.

  8. are you going to trust a bunch of strangers on the net to answer this, or simply pick up a phone and call a vet?

you could have called twice in the time it took to put this question up.

  9. Edited to add: Oh, holy h**l.  I just read the Snopes link.  I had no idea Xylitol was toxic to dogs.  Call your vet NOW.

Ha ha, whoops.  I had a dog when I was a kid who once ate one of those giant gumballs.  She was fine.  The only advice I feel comfortable giving you is that you need to watch his poos to make sure he "passes" the gum.  Sometimes gum gets "stuck" and the dog needs someone to pull it out, sorry to say.  It is pretty gross.

Call the vet.  They may have you come in depending on the ingredients.  But it is important that you call ASAP.

  10. No he won't get sick. Dogs have eaten way worse. He will just eliminate it that's all. Don't worry dear! If you are really worried, take him to the vet to be SAFE. You're gonna be outta some cash.

  11. You will need to take your dog to the vet hun. As kids we were always told never to swallow chewing gum as it can wrap round the organs in your body. Don't know how true it is but it defo stopped me from swallowing it.

He will need to be seen to make sure he is ok, the vet won't judge you for what he's done, they will always be happy to help. Ingredients ARE toxic in certain amounts, he may be ok, he may not. Only a vet can advise you of that one.

Ask for advice over the phone and if they tell you to bring him in, take him.

Hope he's ok hun and watch where you put your gum next time, dogs wanna be cool but chewing the gum wont get him in the gang! lol
