  1. did he eat it whole?

  2. He'll be okay; all answerers were on point, particularly Stacy H viz specificity on what to be alert to. We've always had dogs, from pure breds (Irish Setters/Samoyeds/chow) to good ole' mixed breeds and they've all been entertained and amused with rawhide bones (plus it's good for their teeth).  You just need to be alert to mild hazard of stepping on a slimy, gummy "leftover" your best pal has discarded cos  he was distracted by something else. Otherwise, he should be fine.

  3. he should be fine alot of dogs eat them but if he swallowed it whole take him to the vet it could get stuck in his stomach, and become inflaminated.

  4. if he swallowed whole it can cause a blockage.  If he chewed it no biggie, but watch to make sure he's peeing and pooing so there's no blockage.  Do not give him any more they can cause problems.

  5. There is the possibility that the rawhide could get stuck in his digestive tract and cause problems.  If this does happen the only way to correct it is with surgery.  Watch closely for vomiting, dry heaving, loss of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea and pain in the abdomen.  If you see any of these signs take him to the vet asap.  Unfortunately there isn't anything to help him digest it, this is a wait and see game.  Many dogs have no problems at all but it is good to be aware of warning signs.

  6. He should be ok as some types of rawhide are digestible but I would keep an eye on him for any signs of an obstruction.

Signs of an obstruction range from vomiting, constipation, straining and blood, either in the vomit or coming from the a**s when trying to pass.

  7. If he chewed it and ate it, he should be ok. If he ate it very fast or swallowed huge chunks he might end up throwing some of it back up, or having problems with his bowel movements later. As long as he doesn't seem distressed, don't worry too much about it.

  8. He'll be okay. Unless he swallowed it whole then there might be a problem but otherwise it should digest fine. Not the best choice in chewables, but it'll pass. I just wouldn't do it again.
