i put together my old dog cage to use for my 2 rats. but the spaces between the bars are a little big for the rats so they might run out which i dont want happening. the spaces are about 1"x7 or 8". i need something that can be put to make the spaces smaller so they cant fit through. but it also needs to be chew proof so they dont bite through it either. thanks

  1. You could line the inside of the cage with some smaller gauge (size) chicken wire, or metal webbing.  About a cubic yard (3-4 dollars worth) should be sufficient, and you can get it at ANY hardware store, and just "wire" it in place (like METAL ZIP ties).  Best of luck.
