  1. hi,

A spay surgery prevents dogs from getting pregnant by removing both the ovaries and the uterus. It's not as simple as the neuter surgery the guys get--in fact, it's major surgery--but your darling girl will only be affected for a few days, maybe a week. Afterward, she'll enjoy many health benefits and neither of you will have to deal with her being in heat. Can you say, "freedom"?

    here's mrore info:

    hope this helps.

  2. Our puppy had that problem too where she hadn't pooped 'til a day or two after her spay day. She was very gassy and we were very concerned. But ( don't exactly remember if it was the day after or a couple days after her surgery) my mom took her out and left her out there for a couple of minutes and her potty area was covered in p**p (she stepped on some too, eww!)

Keep taking her out, feel free to call your vet if you're concerned. They won't charge you for asking questions! Good for you for choosing to spay your little girl!

  3. ours was constipated as well when we first brought her home. the vet just told us to watch her and make sure she does not open her stitches when she tries to go to the bathroom, he also gave her some type of food that he said helped her p**p.

  4. That doesn't sound normal. You should take her back to the vet.

  5. It's probably from the medication and the anesthesia-  It does the same to people. Try a little pumpkin pie filling-the canned kind-  or- a little (1 tablespoon) of olive oil in or on food.  It'll help soften the stool, without diarrhea.  Poor baby!!!.
