So, my dog drank a cup of iced water in the morning (He likes to drink it when it's really hot) and now, my dog seems like something is stuck on his throat. He would do that like.. once every hour or so for 6 hours. What could have possibly happened? What signs and symptoms should i look for before I see a vet? (My dog is a maltese, neutered, and 10 years old. He has all the shots and he just had last yearly physical examination one month ago and the doctor said he was very healthy. Only problem he had was an ear infection )

Thank you so much everyone! :-)

  1. I've been told not to give dogs ice cold water.  Just tepid water.

  2. If you think there might be a problem, call your vet! Sometimes you can get some very helpful information over the phone without having to make an appointment. If you've had your dog for 10 years, chances are that you know when something's wrong. Don't give your dog things like "honey" unless instructed to do so by a vet. If your dog has an obstruction in their trachea or esophagus, honey is not going to help.

In the meantime, I would offer cold tap water instead of ice-cold water, but at least contact your vet to see if it's serious enough to warrant a visit to the office.

  3. well dogs get colds and sore throats too,try giving him some honey
