  1. I use Hartz Mountain Dog Shampoo because it contains pyretherins which are supposed to kill fleas and other bugs.  It washes out with water.

I put it on a cue-tip and paint the inside of each ear, and let dry.

Then in about five minutes I take a tissue and wrap it about my little finger and swab inside the ear canal and remove all the little mite carcasses.

When I don't get anymore black on the tissue,  I am done for the day.  Repeat daily until the dog stops scratching his ears and shaking his head.

  2. Mineral oil won't help with an ear mite infestation.  You need to get an actual medication such as rotenone which your veterinarian can give you.  You really ought to get the proper medication as soon as possible as ear mites that are left untreated can cause an animal to go deaf.

  3. Did you go to the vet? If not, he/she will tell you.

  4. You need to put about half a teaspoon in each ear, she will not like it at all, do one ear at a time, massage her ear close to her head for about a min. then use tissue to swab out her ear. Do this on both sides, you can buy the ear mite med at the store it is cheap but the mineral oil will kill them to. and mineral oil is safe. I would do this for about 3 days, if the itching continues take her to the vet.

  5. Mineral oil will work but it will take a loooooong time, make your dog oily and icky, and the oil will rub off the dog onto your furniture, walls, draperies, bedding, etc.  It's so much better to use Milbemite, a prescription ear mite medication.  Um, you also need to be sure that your dog really has ear mites and not some sort of infection or waxy build-up.  Time to see the vet!

  6. did you take her to the vet?  if not, then you shouldn't be giving her anything BUT what the vet prescribed.  who told you that mineral oil works?

  7. some times it does sometimes it doesn't. go to the store and get ear mite med, its cheap and will work. also go to www.kvvet.com and buy the med vet rx its for ear mites. with any med ur want to cover the inside of the whole ear., so it covers all the mites to kill them

  8. Take her to the vet and get a propper ear drops for dogs. I'm not sure if mineral oil would work but you need to be careful because some things can be dangerous and you don't want to cause any more problems.

I got a puppy not long ago and he had ear mites and the vet told me the only way to properly get rid of ear mites was to use a medicated ear drop (in case of infection which mites can cause from irritation) and you squeeze the tube into their ear canal twice a day for around 3 weeks because you have to break the breeding cycle.

The people that had my puppy before me got told the same thing but they didn't do it properly and by the time he came to me he had had them for ages so I did exactly what the vet said for 3 weeks and they went away

  9. do not put mineral oil in her ear!  This will not work, and it may cause an infection!

Take the dog to the vet, and get miticide for her ears.
