His legs are all red and the hair is almost gone :(

We thought he had allergies in the past because he sneezes a lot and has chewed on his paws until they're red and raw before...but this is getting out of hand! (He's a pekignese mini schnauzer mix)

  1. You'd better get your dog into the vet not only for short term relief but to figure out what's causing the chronic chewing.  It takes awhile for a dog to get into this condition, he's probably miserable, and you shouldn't delay with vet care.

  2. Sounds like mange either way sounds like a trip to the vet is needed as soon as possible. Good luck hope he feels better and get the care he needs!

  3. Take his to the vet ASAP it could be allot of things but it's defiantly a problem!

  4. take your dog to the vet just to be safe.

  5. I'm surprised you let it get that bad, i got worried when mine licked a area the size of a stamp free of hair....

a trip to the vet is deffinitly needed

  6. If he's doing it himself it's not mange.. mange starts at the back usually, and the hair falling out is called by the parasite itself.

Is he scratching a lot generally?

    Then it could be fleas.

You can check for them yourself by looking though his fur, go with the back of his neck, that's where they tend to congregate

It could also be lice or another similar parasite..

Do you work a lot and leave him at home on his own?

Dogs have been known to do this out of boredom/depression.

    Anyway go to the vet.

  7. Take him to the vet ASAP! My dog got something like that but not as bad, we took him to the vet and got a creme to put on his legs and it helped a lot!

What your dog has is Hot Spots. Those are spots where the dog constantly licks and bite an area on there skin where they have irritation. Your dog probably got into something.

Here is a link that tells all about Hot Spots and skin irritation.

Take him to the vet right away because it can get worse very easily.

    Hope this helps!
