Hello, my dog started limping last week, I didn't notice at first because he'd been limping on his other leg after pulling a muscle, but that had got better and I realised the signs were different, so I looked at his pud on the other leg and there was a little black dot surrounded by paler skin. I squeezed it a little but there's no infection nor can I see any lodged object. People I've asked say the same happened to their dog, they took it to the vet and the dog had to have an opp only to find there was nothing there. I don't want to make is injury worse with a scalpel. Has anyone got any advice other than bathe it in salt water? Any experience welcome.

Thanks

  1. Just because you can't see anything doesn't mean something isn't wrong  See a vet.

  2. Why don't you bring your do to a vet?

  3. your dog may have stood on a thorn  and it may just be sore . just keep it clean and rest it for a while if its still sore go to the vet

  4. Do not under any circumstances put his paw in salt water! He will hit the roof in pain! Have you ever had a cut and gotten salt in it! It hurts!!! Your dog needs to see a vet, and have it properly treated. There is no way you would know if it's infected! I'm surprised it's been this long and you haven't taken the poor dog to the vet!

  5. A dogs pads are VERY sensitive when cut open. You should take him to the Vet right away. Even if there is nothing there it should be closed up "by a Vet" and cleaned "by a Vet". Just because you don't see an infection doesn't mean there isn't one. Call your Vet and make an app. It is very important that he is seen ASAP!
