  1. uhm either ttake it to the vet or a groomer or you can get clippers and do it yourself it aint that hard

  2. dont do it your self that will mess it up. take her to a grooming salon.

  3. If you've never done it before I would recommend taking her to a professional groomer.

  4. If you want to do it yourself I'd suggest cutting the length of first and then use clippers to get it short. Its a bit of a mission though so it might be best to take her to the groomers.

  5. my moms a vet in California and she grooms too! I really dont know what kind of dog a Lhasa Apso is but if its like a poodle u should shave around its ears and inside of em if shell let u,$ cuz she might get somethin stuck in her ear that will cause an infection. Hope this helps!!!

  6. When dealing with mats your best option is to take our Lhasa to a pet groomer. If the mats are dealt with correctly they can just get tighter and more uncomfortable for the dog. If you don't know what you're doing you don't want to do it yourself because you can possible make things worse or injury your beautiful dog.

  7. Get a good pair of clippers and a #10 blade and can of kool lube start behind the head holding the blade flat to the skin and working your way back to her rear checking the blade isn't hot by placing it to your forearm if you don't keep checking the blade you will burn your dog so take your time. Good Luck

  8. You would take her to a groomer to do it.  As you don't have the necessary tools to groom the dog.

And next time, use a brush and she wont get matted.

  9. I would take her to a groomer, casue when you're dealing with matted hair there are chances that you could nip the skin when trying to cut the hair.  These dogs hair should be kept short anyways if the hair is getting matted cause they're coats are such high maintanence.

  10. take her to a groomer!~ then comb her hair everday so it wont get matted!~

  11. Shaving a matted dog is a sensitive thing. Their hair is so tight to the skin it's easy to pull the skin up and cut it. I would really recommed spending the $30-40 it'll cost to have your dog shaved and bathed. If you don't know how to even give a normal haircut you shouldn't ever try to do a dog that's very matted. Also, if you don't brush your dog several times a week then you need to start investing in getting your dog a haircut every 6wks at least so that you don't keep letting her get matted. Matting is bad for their skin. It pulls on it causing discomfort and even bruising, and it also doesn't allow air to get to it and if you wait too long the skin can start to rot.

  12. I would take her to a professional groomer. They will make sure they shave her evenly and not leave her looking like she just fell out of a chipper.

  13. My dog has the same problem.  I live in a town without a dog groomer, so I have to do everything myself.

I usually, VERY CAREFULLY!, take a pair of sharp scissors and cut out the matts as best I can.  For about $15 you can get a decent pair of sheep trimmers from a tack and feed store.  They are made to power through fine fur like your dog (and mine) has.

Start at the tail and work your way up toward the neck in long straight lines.  You may want to use the scissors to trim the face and paws.

    Good luck!
