So, a week or so ago I noticed tiny little spots on my basset hounds ears that were bald....not thinking anything other than the fact that she was just scratching those spots there I let it go...now she has lost alot of hair on her ears inside and out and a few spots on the top of her head. We are treating her for ear mites right now...does ear mites have this kind of symptom on an animal?

We have contacted the vet, Im just waiting for them to call me back so I thought I would get some different opinions.

Thank you!

  2. First of all well done for going to the vets and this could be something to do with ear mites because they give off this symptom. It could just be dry iritated skin because my dog had it last year. Or just a rash very common. This is very normal for this breed. It is nothing to woory about.

  3. i dought its earmites. it could be a skin problem or allergies. allergies usually make dogs loose there hair. take it to the vet and dont leave without an answer.

  4. It sounds like ear mites. It not the mites that cause the hair loss, it's the dog's scratching. If you bought ear mite treatment from the store, throw it out and get the stuff from the vet, it's more effective.
