She's a little chihuahua.

When i found her she was just standing still on 3 legs.

Right now she's laying down but that's all she's been doing. She hasn't got up to eat or anything. She looks really sad=[

I'm not sure what's wrong with her.

She cries when i move her leg. i tried touching her leg on certain areas to see which part hurts more. Yesterday she got a rabies shot and that's the part that hurts her most,

could that shot have made her like that?

What should i do for her right now? I can't take her to a vet this late.

PLZ help!

  1. Yes the rabies shot is most likely the culprit. my little guy limped around for two days and was very sore.

Also I live in an area that does Not have emergency vets. the nearest one is 70 miles from our home, so I understand that some of us really can't take to vet immediately.

  2. if she not better in the tomorrow take her in the vet please...

  3. Okay well I have 2 chihuahua's and my mom works at a vet

My chihuahua Roxy was limping after jumping off the couch, and we took her to the vet the next day and it turned out she had to get leg surgery. So your dog might have hurt her leg when you weren't paying attention. But it could also be the shot making her leg sore! Just wait a day and if shes still doing it take her to the vet to get it checked out in case its something worse.

    Hope I helped! :)

  4. it is natual for her to hurt when she got the shot.

but if she hasnt been using her leg since before she got the shot, something might be wrong. go online and look for local animal emergancy rooms or hospitals

  5. All you can really do tonight is keep her confined in a crate or a small area where she cant damage her leg anymore and she will rest...if she is the same way in the morning take her to the vet .

  6. The pain from the shot, will ease up and if possible a little massage for that area will help. Have they not given any instructions when the shot was given what to do for the Pain? Aspirin is given for pain to dogs, Since she is a little dog a baby aspirin may be enough for her to go to sleep and in the AM you can call the place whre she got her rabies shot and see what they recommend.

  7. YES THE RABIES SHOT COULD BE THE CULPRIT. THEY PROBABLY HIT A NERVE. BUT THEY ALSO SAY  SHOTS CAN HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT ON SMALL DOGS LIKE THAT.WHEN I GET MY CHIHUAHUA HER RABIES I ALWAYS GET IT IN TWO DIFFERENT VISITS.

  8. i would make sure she stays off her leg for a few days and if i dosnt get better then i think u should realy take her to the vet ,her leg could even be broken.

  9. Yes she could have a reaction to the shot  and won't eat because she doesn't feel well but she should be o.k. in a day or two.Call your Vet.to ease your mind.Check for heat in the area of the shot and for swelling you could put a ice pack on her swelling. It's just a reaction of the ingredients that make up the shot.Long nails or injury to the pad of her foot a break or fracture or even bone cancer can keep a dog from from standing on the leg .Weight hurts and they try to get the weight off of the leg.In her case it very well could be a bad reaction on the poor little girl.Baby her too as I'm sure you are already doing that.

  10. There is a lot of new information about vaccines and you might want to educate yourself for the future.  There is a group here on yahoo.com called "The Truth about Vaccines".  Lots of good information here.  You might talk with your vet about changing your vaccination protocols.  Many vets around the world are beginning to make changes because of reactions like these and even worse.

    Good luck.

  11. I have a chihuahua also & everytime she gets a rabies shot she drags her back leg that she gets the shot in---- don't worry she'll be fine in a few days
