  1. My Scottie died from that 8 years ago and I was heartbroken.  Just try to spend as much time with him as possible and give him lots of love and comfort.  He is probably loosing his balance from the toxins building up in his bloodstream.  You can try kidney dialysis but it will only prolong his suffering and it is very expensive.  At the age of 15 he will sleep a lot and I would say this is the best thing, at least he is not in pain when he is sleeping.  I hate to say it but you might want to have him put down instead of having him be in pain with the kidney failure.  I know exactly how hard this is and do not say it lightly, but if you love the dog you have to think of his best interests.

  2. just hang out with him and enjoy the time you got left if you are worried about pain or anything talk to the vet about treatment if he's in a lot of pain i know it sucks but you need to put him down also i gave my last dog a steak before he went cause his lift was pretty bad and i had to put him down figured i'd give him a last great meal, he'd earned it.

  3. Have it put down.

  4. kidney failure happens to a lot of dogs and cats too.

Make sure, he has water all the time.

I got a page of homemade diets from my vet. Here is one, for failing kidneys:give this to him, make his life happy, for what time he has left.

didn't the vet say, there is medicine for helping the kidneys?

People get treated with dialysis machines, need a transplant later.

Restricted Protein Diet:1/4cup ground beef,2cups of white rice NO SALT! 1hard boiled egg, chopped,3slices of white bread,crumbled,1teaspoon=5gram of Calcium Carbonate

cook beef in skillet, stir in other ingredients, mix well.this mixture is kind of dry, it can be improved by adding some water,NO milk!

  5. The only advice I can give is love him.  I am so sorry for you and dread the day I am in your shoes.  Give him doggy heaven...scratches, treats and cuddle time with you.  If it looks very bad you may have to give him the greatest gift of all...letting him go.

  6. I'm sorry.

There's no miracle pill and at the age of nearly 15, your dog has lived a long life.

You're at the point in your dog's life where you have to make a hard decision.  Do you turn to extreme measures to keep him alive as long as possible?  Or do you make arrangements to keep him from suffering?

If you're asking, you probably already know the answer.  It's one of the hardest things you will ever, EVER do, but you know you don't want him to suffer.

As long as he's not in pain and he's still in good spirits, just make sure he's as comfortable as possible for the time he has left.  When it becomes clear to you that his quality of life is deteriorating, it will be time to say goodbye.  That's not easy to do, but it is the decent thing to do after all the years of love and companionship your dog has given you.

  7. Spend the time you have left with him give him treats and love every chance you get.

I know you pain I lost a dog to brain cancer last year that i had since i was a baby. I didn't even see it coming and had no time to say goodbye but you do so let him know you love him. And i feel really sorry for you. Remember he wont be in anymore pain and he will be happy and free from suffering and pain in doggy heaven. He will always be in your heart.

  8. I am so sorry that you are going through this.  I think the best advice hs been given. There are no miracle pills, sorry. The best advise is just love your dog, sometimes that means making really really tough choices.  MOst of the people on here are extreme dog lovers so their advice is right on/

  9. I'm sorry to say this , but yourself in your dog's shoes so to speak. I think the most humane thing to do is to have him put to sleep. It is a very sad thing but looks he's old in dog years, what like... 105 yrs old. All though we can't do that to people so you may want to spend as  much time with him while you can. Personally though I would choose the first.
