She is a 3.5 yr old Alaskan Malamute, so a big dog. Are season's generally longer for big dogs compared to small dogs?

In the past she has normally been in season for over a month, but I don't remember it ever being this long?

Can anyone help?

  1. I dont think it is. You can call your local vet and ask over the phone, usually they dont charge.

  2. No this is not normal you need to get your dog to the vet, and have her looked at.

  3. i dont think so, take her to the vet and get her looked at.

  4. a dog is a dog a regularseason is 27 days if not bred 18 if bred

  5. Every dog is different when it comes to how long they stay in season, but I've never heard of it being over a week or two.

I would say that she might have some sort of reproductive problem and I would definitely take her into the vet to be tested.

  6. No there is something wrong with her. From start to finish the season is about 4 weeks.

I strongly advise to take your girl to the vet and have her checked out.

Further more with each season a ***** has an increases risk of developing tumors, so if it was my dog I had her spayed. Especially with the problems she is having now.

  7. This is not normal your dogs heat should never go past 30 days. She needs to get to the vet some thing else is going on.Tilks Mom

  8. a dog's heat cycle is 21 day no matter what the size of the dog and the bleeding time of the cycle is the second week of the cycle.  i would get her to the vet. she may have an infection that can kill her this is not normal.
