My dog just ate a tootsie roll, will he be okay?

My dog is 6 pounds (Full grown, he's a palpillon) and he just ate an entire Tootsie roll, including the rapper. Will he be okay?

  1. Although chocolate is toxic to dogs, some are more sensitive to it then others.

    Depending on how much he ate, he should be fine.

    Keep an eye on any panting, heavy breathing, or if he acts sick. You will then need to take him to the vet ASAP.

    If you are unsure or concerned call your local emergency vet clinic and they will be able to assist you further.

  2. omg take him to the vet right now! chocolate will kill him in over it eats up there blood and will stop it quick with a dog that size please save him you can't just let him be!

  3. I bet a nickel there's not enough chocolate in a tootsie roll to bother him.

  4. I had a cocker spaniel once that ate a whole bag of chocolate (during Halloween) and he was okay. Chocolate isn't good for dogs if they have it a lot, but I'm sure 1 tootsie roll is okay. If he starts acting weird within the next day or two then I'd take him to the vet. He should be okay though... he might throw up or have diarrhea but it's okay as long as you make sure he drinks plenty of water and the diarrhea doesn't last several days.

    I'm not a vet so I'm not 100% sure, but I know my cocker spaniel had a huge bag of chocolate one time and he was okay.

  5. He may throw up so be ready for that or have diareah. Just keep him drinking lots of water. If you have to, make him some chicken noodle soup but only put in a bit of seasoning and lots of water just so he drinks it.
