we had 2 GREAT and I'm not bragging, german shepards. one had a little lab in him. we got chickens and the pure german shepard (bear) ate about 5 chickens so we were forced to get rid of him and took him to the pound, but no worries. we called the pound, he was adopted 35 mins. after we dropped him off. but the german shepard lab mix, lost his partner in crime. he has slowly gotten super hyper and dependent on lots and lots and lots and lots............. of human attention. he needs it all the time. also his eating habits are getting worse. he was already underweight, and when i feed him, it takes him all day to finish.

we believe hes getting depressed because he misses the good old days of breaking into the garbage and howling at the moon with his bud. we are thinking of going to the vet to get a second opinion and seeing if we might need depressants for awhile?

  1. Your right he is prob depressed. You need to start taking him for longs walks, playing ball or Frisbee with him more often.  German Shepherds are great I have 3 of my own.  They tend to wear their hearts on their shoulders.  When  I had to put down KC, it was like everyone knew what happened and he was never coming back.  All three of them plus the cat didn't really move for 3 or 4 days, or wouldn't eat.  Finally I just had enough and started taking them on an hour walk everyday.  It was no time when they were back being themselves.  Good Luck, I hope he gets to doing better.

  2. maybe get him a smaller friend to hang with..
