My dog is a small breed and not even a year yet. She needs surgery on both knees and its going to cost me $3000.00. She is my heart and I am devestated. I dont know what to do. I am married with a 4 year old and have a newborn on the way. I dont know how I am going to pay for this. My heart is breaking, I dont want to lose her and want to give her what she needs to get better. How though?

  1. whats wrong with her knees

my one year old small breed has probelems with his knees to he limps almost constantly our vet said it was because his knee caps were popping out  he said about 90% of small breed dogs in calgary have this problem. my cousins dog has the same problem as mine their vet suggested surgery to correct this problem or keep him on antibotics they did not do surgery

so if this is your dogs problem does she have to have the surgery or was it a suggestion

im sorry if this is no where close to her problem let me know how it turns out

  2. Talk to your vet about it. If you have been a client of his for a while, he may let you make arrangements to pay. If he can't do that, ask him the name of a credit card company he could recommend. There are certain companies that issue credit cards just for animal care.

    Best of luck to you.

I wish I knew why there are so many thumbs down here. There are some very good answers that don't deserve a thumbs down.

  3. Try everything- Pray to God everyday-belive it or not- he helps you.

    Take out a loan

Talk to your vet about discount

    Cut your expenses

Sell some stuff[life is more valuable then money]

  4. Sorry to hear about your puppy.  Try talking to your vet, if you are a steady customer you they might be willing to give you a discount and arrange an affordable payment plan.  Some vets have no interest financing available also.

    Good luck

  5. Do a payment plan...pay monthly bill...or....

you dont have enough money for surgery for a dog?

3000$ have a fundraiser or something. have a garage sale.

i dont know. go to a pawn shop and give something up if you love em so much.

if my dog desperitly needed surgery i would even sell my home probably. sell something to a pawn shop.

if you love your lil guy u'd do it. :)

hope you make the right choice.

  6. That is so tough. The only thing I can think of is, knee problems are genetic. That means, if you got your dog and she came from a breeder, they most likely gave you a one year health guarantee... That's their fault if they are breeding dogs that have knee problems because that will pass down in DNA to the puppies they are selling. They are at fault, that is, if you got it from a breeder. Take it up with them.

If you got it from a shelter or somewhere else.. I' mreally sorry. You could ask the vet if you could pay it over a series of time, get another smaller job on the side?

  7. Here is something you can look into.  I had a Min Pin that had surgery on both knees (luxating patellas) so I am very aware how expensive it can be.

  8. Look into Care Credit, many vets accept this payment plan.  Good luck.

  9. Talk  to the vet and ask if there  is any way you  can make out a payment plan.

Good luck  with your newborn and your 4 year old and your dog.
