  1. my friends does that too if you just stand there and dont touch him he might not pee. thats what hers does if you dont touch her.

  2. Get used to it!  He's very happy to see you and everybody else and gets so excited he can't help himself!  Keep extra paper towels handy when somebody comes in the door!!

  3. my brother does the same thing!

  4. Oh do do knows whats up! ignore the DOG as soon as u turn the attention on her PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ALL OVER! i know my doggy does it! she is hyper when iget home and i just wish shes get off the furniture because if i tell her GET OFF  "paying attention to the fact that she is on my furniture" she will PEEEEEEEEEEE ON IT! so i just get her calmly without even looking at her without her realizing i am getting her and get her off and say no! and hope she doesnt PEEEEE...lil mini weiner!

  5. This is just excitement, that he has seen someone.

Try and take your dog out and greet the person, so she does her pee outside, and praise her.

  6. has he been neutered? My dogs did that until we took them to the vet to get neutered.....

  7. I just had my dog to the Vet and he did that to the vet....the vet said it can't be stopped......so I will watch this thread

  8. That is very likely a sign of ANXIETY.

How "busy / active" is he when we welcomes you home?     If not "overly-excited" then I bet he is more accustomed to you than others.

  9. He is submissive peeing.  My puppy does that right now.  Usually they grow out of it between 7-9 months.  However, if this is still going on, you need to build your dogs confidence.  Also tell your friends to ignore the dog for 4 minutes before giving eye contact, petting or acknowledging the dog in any way.

  10. Yes, this is common but luckily usually easy to fix.

The dog is submissively peeing.  It's like "okay you're the boss, see, I give up!".

What you want to do is have everybody who ever meets your dog, including yourself and your family, always 100% of the time ignore the dog when you come in the house.  If you can, walk right past the dog into another room (your bedroom to change clothes, or bathroom or something).  Don't look, touch, or talk to the dog.  This gives him a chance to get used to the idea of someone being home without being physically faced with them.

And keep ignoring the dog until it's calm and relaxed.  It'll start associating calm behavior with attention.  The WORST thing you can do is punish the dog for this (rubbing his nose in it, etc).  You're just telling the dog it needs to submit MORE because it's in trouble now.  You also don't want to praise ("comfort") the behavior because it teaches that the behavior is good.

It also helps to ignore the dog when you leave the house.  Don't say goodbye, don't give a cookie, don't make a fuss.  Treat it as you just leaving the room.  You don't make a fuss then do you?  Make leaving and coming home as ordinary and boring for your dog as possible, and it'll greatly help his submissive peeing behavior.

  11. With my second dog, she did this when she was a puppy. She'd get excited whenever someone comes home. But eventually it didn't last.

I believe that dogs will outgrow this & that's just a phase. Mind you, it does help not to get overly excited whenever you walk in from outside. And it would help to warn someone who would step foot in the house. Remain calm & he/she wouldn't get overly happy & urinate.

It worked for me. Hope it helps.

  12. My dog used to pee because she was so excited to see people she hasn't seen in a while too, but she eventually grew out of it.
