For the past couple of days my dog has been very scared and acting unusual. He walks around for a little bit and then rubs both sides of his mouth on the floor/grass. He also seems like he may have seen something that spooked him, but I don't know why that would make him rub he mouth on the floor/grass. Any idea would be great, thanks a lot.

  1. Best guess is that your dog is feeling a little itchy. Check out for some early signs of skin allergies or fleas. Dogs with fleas may start showing some spooky behavior like walking/running here and there, jumping, scratching body parts anywhere they can get.

  2. Something is irritating him around that area. Check for bites , ticks, rashes or something.  As it has already been a couple of days its not going away.  Take him to the vet just incase there is a tick inside his mouth, yes it can happen and if its a paraylsis tick his days are numbered if you dont.

  3. he may have stuck his nose somewhere he shouldnt have and either been bitten by an insect or stung by a prickly plant.check both sides of his face for anything unusual and if you can look inside his mouth.you may even need to take a trip to the vets

  4. This is a total shot in the dark, you really would need to do a close physical exam to see what it could be. Could someone have pepper sprayed or maced him? I would check the eyes for irritation. I would also check for injuries like scratches he may have gotten into a little scuffle with an animal. There could be other medical causes, maybe it's time for a vet check up?

  5. Does your dog have a gentle leader, collar, etc. on? Your dog might also be marking his territory with his scent.

  6. My dog does this all the time. It's nothing to worry about. It might have just a small itch. If you dog does this more than 10 times a day, I recommend that you take it to the vet.
