My dog skip help~!!!?

Question

Ok, its 10:15 and i have a book test for my dog skip tomarow, the problem is, i haven't read it yet. Could someone please sum it up as

short as possible but still include a lot of information. like questions that a book test would normally ask, like charactors, plot, etc...

sparknotes.com doesnt seem to have it

I know jsut the bare minumum, william has a dog named skip, gets the girl he likes, neighbor goes to wwII and goes awol, and then the dog dies at end.

MAd props for whoever can fill me in.

lol i'm lazy. i've never read the book, seen the movie a million times, but i think the book is a little different.
