Is there a way to repair this carpet that was torn up without having to replace the entire room? I can hire a professional to come do it if it means they can repair just that part that was torn up. Thanks!

  1. yes, you can have a pro fix it if you know the brand/style of carpet that you need.  They will cut out the damaged part and fill in with a block of new. It won't match exactly because your replacement piece is new and has less wear, but at least you'll have a matching "patch" over the torn up spot.

  2. Maybe the closet has apiece big enough to patch or under the bed even.Dont try on your own.

  3. You can always get a patch job done. Hiring a pro is the right way to go, of course, but you might be able to save some $$ on labor by clearing out the carpet you need replaced.

Get a drywall knife/x-acto and make a straight cut through the carpet. Go slowly you stay in the same line. After you get a couple inches cut, you can lift the carpet and slice the knife through a little easier.

Having a straight edge guiding your cut is recommended. Then call the carpet guys and have them give you bid for the job.

  4. i had a carpet repair guy repair a couple of areas in a house i was renting and he stapled it and it looked like c**p. if they glue it down it may look better. its not that hard to do it yourself if you got an extra piece of carpet if not i would replace all of it, because it will not match.

  5. cut out the torn part and get the same or similar piece and bond it together.

  6. If you have any excess carpet or a peice from the closet a carpet installer could cut out the damaged area & seam in a new peice.

Wouldn't bother removing the damaged peice, not gonna save any $$.

It would be better to let a pro do it so he can determine what you have to work with.

    I usually charge around $50 - $75
